Juan Pablo Faúndez (b. December 22, 1997) is a Chilean drummer, percussionist, and composer.
Born in Linares, Chile, and raised in a musical family, Juan Pablo began his musical journey at age 6 with classical piano lessons at the Conservatory of Music of the University of Talca. By 10, he had discovered the drums, and by 15, he was already playing professionally across Chile.
His early career was deeply influenced by gospel music and the Santiago music scene. In 2015, he received a full scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music's Five-Week Summer Program. He later earned a full scholarship from both Berklee College of Music and the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Performance in 2023.
Juan Pablo’s career has since spanned continents and genres. He has performed and toured with legendary artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Jesus Molina, Miguel Bosé, Noel Schajris, and Thuy, gracing stages across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Notable performances include appearances at Java Jazz Festival (Indonesia), Bansko Jazz Festival (Bulgaria), and the National Centre for the Performing Arts (India). He has also played at iconic venues like the United Palace (NY), Peacock Theater (LA), and the Berklee Performance Center (Boston).
As a session drummer, he’s worked on projects like Marcin’s “Classical Dragon” for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and recorded multiple tracks with Jesus Molina and other high-profile collaborators. His work as an arranger and composer shines through original productions, collaborations like the viral JP Faundez & Jason Garb Duo, and his upcoming solo album set for release in 2025.
In addition to his busy performance schedule, Juan Pablo is a dedicated educator. He has taught students across the U.S., Chile, Colombia, and beyond—many of whom have gone on to earn scholarships to Berklee and the Latin Grammy Foundation. He regularly gives masterclasses, clinics, and online workshops, focusing on groove, technique, and stylistic versatility.
Juan Pablo is proudly endorsed by Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks, Canopus Drums, Kala Brand Music, FatFreq In-Ears, and Fundas Drumker. He is also a recipient of prestigious awards including the Armand Zildjian Scholarship, Neil Peart Scholarship, Freddie Gruber Scholarship, and was a semifinalist in the Percussive Arts Society Drum Set Competition. With a deep passion for rhythm and a drive to innovate, Juan Pablo Faúndez continues to build a global career as one of the most exciting drummers of his generation.
